COLORWASP / FAQ
A little color knowledge.
Answers to common questions, all in one place.
Is ColorWasp free?
Yes. You can use the color tools for free without an account.
How often can I use the tools?
As often as you like. There is no daily allowance for creating palettes or gradients.
Can I use my colors and gradients commercially?
Yes, you can use the color values and CSS you create in commercial designs. Make sure you have the necessary rights to any photos you use as a starting point.
Which harmony should I choose?
Analogous gives related hues, complementary creates contrast, and triadic provides three spaced-out hues. Use them as starting points and check the result in your actual design.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The workbench analyzes your image in your browser. Photos, filenames and color codes are not sent to our analytics services.
What is the difference between HEX, RGB and HSL?
HEX writes a color as a hexadecimal code. RGB uses red, green and blue. HSL uses hue, saturation and lightness. Export the same palette in the notation you need.
Do shared palettes expire?
The link contains the design itself and has no configured expiry date. Opening it still depends on the website remaining available and compatible. Keep an export too.
Are my colors automatically accessible?
No. A harmonious palette does not guarantee readable text on every background. Check the contrast of the combinations you actually use.
Why do copy or share sometimes fail?
Support depends on your browser, device, HTTPS and permissions. Use Download or copy the text from the copy dialog when a browser feature is unavailable.
Do you store contact messages?
The contact form sends your name, email address and message to our mailbox so we can reply. The website does not store a copy of the message content in its database. Technical spam limits are recorded temporarily.
